facebook goes mini
hello there! if you're new here and like what you read, you may want to grab the rss feed so you can always be up to date. thanks for visiting!
in an attempt to simplify the users’ profile page interface, facebook has added ‘mini icons’ under your photograph. these mini icons show thumbnails of all the facebook features that you have enabled and the applications you have added to your profile, and is a much better (cleaner and clutter free) way to display these.

you don’t have to browse a friend’s profile to see what he has added, just look at these icons. as you can see, i’m not a big fan of facebook applications.

Totally agree about the Facebook applications. I’ve got one obscure contact who insists on spamming me with applications, questions and other crap.
I like the core social networking elements, but opening the API hasn’t resulted in much that I find useful.

I really enjoy facebook’s app system since there are some handy apps. But I have to agree with gerard, the notice thing is out of hand. I feel like I keep getting bugged by the same people over the same apps. There are a few old class mates that are totally engrossed in the silly apps like “X me” and “Vampires” that spam the crap out of me with requests. Then there are just people who add and app and see the “tell your friend” screen and just click on through innocently not really thinking that they are sending annoying noticed. Ish.

Blaine: you can go to your privacy settings and remove the apps from your news and mini feeds.
