i’ve written a post on search engine land on the past, present, and future of mixx.

mixx, a social media submission site, is a newcomer on the scene, so it understandably will take a while for it to catch up with older sites like digg, propeller, reddit, and stumbleupon. that said, this article looks at the current state of mixx and the potential future of its small but devoted community.

please check out the article and let us know what you think.

You’re spot on in this article. I signed up with Mixx early, while it was still in private beta, but eventually stopped using it because I found it to be ineffective from a content-creator’s point of view. I’d post something, get 7 up-votes, and then check my stats and discover there were only 2 visitors. People seemed to be voting for the sake of voting - not because they actually appreciated the content.

In the past month or so, I’ve sat up and taken notice of Mixx again, largely due to its Groups feature. While Mixx still doesn’t send much traffic to my sites, I’ve found the Groups feature useful as a way of discovering new content. At the moment, Mixx is probably the only social media site other than StumbleUpon that I use to FIND content. Simply because Mixx is diverse enough to appeal to ME and MY interests.
