the second great trim of 2007

Filed under: it's just business — muhammad saleem @ 4:51 pm

today is the second time in 2 months (the first time was in the middle of may) that i’m trimming down my friends list on digg. the first time i took the list down from 550 to 150. since then i have added a few people and the goal this time is to get it from 167 down to 100.

what are the rules? well if you haven’t dugg any of my stuff for at least one week, then we aren’t really friends, are we?

hi! if you're new here and like what you read, you may want to grab the rss feed so you can always be up to date. thanks for visiting!

contributing to copyblogger

Filed under: it's just business — muhammad saleem @ 12:08 pm

brian just did a post on the top 5 new developments on copyblogger. development number three is that he is adding new voices to the site.

3. New Voices – Having guest writers while I went on vacation last month convinced me that Copyblogger is better with voices other than just my own. Roberta Rosenberg, Chris Garrett and Muhammad Saleem will be sharing their expertise with you on an ongoing basis.

i have been looking forward to this announcement for a while and can’t wait to start working with brian’s team.

pronet advertising makes the technorati top 100

Filed under: it's just business — muhammad saleem @ 5:08 pm

i am really happy to announce that pronet advertising has been listed at number 83 on technorati’s list of top 100 blogs. i especially enjoyed the humility with which neil handled the matter, not ruling out the possibility that this could’ve been a fluke.

me and the digg.com 400 club

Filed under: it's just business — muhammad saleem @ 8:55 pm

i’ve been doing some digging lately and as a result i have just joined the highly exclusive digg.com 400 club. as the name of the club suggests, only people with 400 or more (but less than 500) stories promoted to the front-page of digg can become members. as of today, the membership consists of a total of 5 people.

check out my profile, and the complete rankings.

taking charge of pronet advertising

Filed under: it's just business — muhammad saleem @ 6:46 pm

if you are a subscriber to pronet advertising you may have noticed the massive amounts of blogging that i have been doing on the site for the past few weeks. this is due to the fact that i have been made the lead-author as well as editor of the site, as neil and cameron both focus their efforts more on acs (they will still be blogging but more infrequently). we never bothered to make an official announcement but after tony’s kind words today i felt compelled to write a few words here.

901am acquisition official, get well krug

Filed under: it's just business — muhammad saleem @ 1:48 pm

a few hours after i posted about the email i got from dominic rivera, an official announcement was made on the website itself.

We are pleased to announced that Splashpress Media has acquired 901am.com. We remain committed in bringing new media news throughout the day. We are currently working on moving the site to a new server. Thank you for your patience.

unfortunately there has been no word so far from david krug. david is the founder of 901am, the one who hired me after i resigned from the blog herald, and has been a dear friend to me ever since. the blog herald has, however, released the following statement on behalf of splashpress media:

In the aftermath of the 901am.com sale, Splashpress would like to take the opportunity to thank David Krug for the marvellous job he did in building 901am.com and in such a short period. We believe the site still has great potential to grow and to dominate the niche that covers new media news. We are happy to announce that Minic Rivera, contributor at the Blog Herald and former editor of the Blogging Times, has agreed to be editor of 901am. And last, but not least, we would like to wish David Krug a speedy recovery, as he has been unwell now for a few weeks. Please join us in our prayers for him.

get well soon krug. we miss you and wish you a quick recovery.

901am acquired, farewell 901am

Filed under: it's just business — muhammad saleem @ 1:16 pm

i got an email from dominic rivera earlier today telling me that 901am has been acquired by splashpress media.

in line with this, we remain committed to having you among our esteemed bloggers. We would like to extend our open invitation for you to continue blogging at 901am.

unfortunately, among other reasons, i have too much on my plate already and therefore have decided to leave the team at 901am.

best of luck to dominic (now editor of 901am) and splashpress media (the new owners).
